Taken two weeks ago at Pescadero State Beach. I arrived at the beach during twilight. For about two hours I sat silent on the beach surrounded by about 30 harbor seals and plenty of birds and just let the whole scene sink in. Absolutely wonderful... As the sun rose higher above the coastal hills behind me, it lit more and more of the scenery in front of me. It was an absolutely wonderful morning.

This was taken just as the sun first hit the breaking waves just off the beach area. As you can see, the lower part of the picture is still in shade, while the breaking crest is in sunlight. As for the seals and birds, I definitely need to get a longer lense...

Please hammer on. I appreciate both positive and negative feedback. Reposts welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Anders

I agree, this is very excellent. I spent part of a day about a year ago trying to take compelling pictures of breaking waves and came up with a big, fast goose egg. :) I would have been thrilled with something like this.

I like the layers herer - contrast of textures and tones really adds to the movement implied by the breakers.

Wonderful image. The shape of the wave and the swell in front of it as well as the overall perspective are all great..

This is a really simple, elegant shot. I like the curve of the water in the foreground and how it is mirrored by the wave. The exposure looks perfect. This really conveys your peaceful morning.
