Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tennessee

I had a bunch of trouble trying to set up this one. I ended up cropping it to about 2/3 the original area. I also spent a lot of time arguing with the GND filter. I guess I need to work on my landscapes some.

Tripod mounted Nikon D100, 24-85 AFS, ISO 200, 2 SS GND, 1/10 @ F16.

I see what you mean about this. The color is really sweet and there are so many nice elements. However the foreground bushes on the right aren't great. Can you get any more detail and contrast in the foreground. Perhaps make a selection of the foreground and add some saturation.

My goodness! What a beautiful shade of orange you caught in the sky. The low lying clouds really adds to a sense of mystery and drama. I, personally, think the forground looks just fine. Boy, oh boy, this is a wonderful shot!
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

I have not been in the Smokey's since I was a child. This is a fantastic image. When is the best time of year to go?

Very pretty, Tony - I like the colors and fine details.

(Jumping in to reply to E.J.) Two times that are best - in spring, the third week of April has an abundance of wildflowers, and about 2 weeks prior, you'll get lots of dogwood and redbud. My favorite is fall, though; it varies a bit with altitude, but the third week of October is usually best. I'll be there! :)

Very nice. I like the lighting, composition and those clouds are a really nice touch to the photo. Great exposure as well!

Colors and details in the center and right are great. I just wish you had no bushes at all in the far left. "I also spent a lot of time arguing with the GND filter." Look at the bright side. It won't argue back! And it looks like you won the argument here.

I'm glad you answered it because I wasn't sure. We were down around the third week in April but even that varies depending on altitude and the amount of rain they have gotten.
