Another one from Bow Lake taken a little while after the first one. This is one of my favourite locations in Banff even though I've never been lucky enough to get really ideal conditions. It offers a huge variety of different compositions. Next time I go I'm going to leave my trusty 16-35 in the bag and try some tighter crops.

I like the light on the mountain (I think it's Crowfoot mountain). (For the curious, the previous one starts just to the right of this one.) I also like the light glistening on the log. I've left the foreground a little darker here to increase the drama of the mountain. However, there is a pretty big slice of not very interesting foreground here and the log isn't *that* interesting either. Probably might have been better just to do a 'straight shot' of the mountain, but when I'm in 'near/far' mode with the 16-35 I see so many possibilities that I sometimes fail to try other things.

Thanks,
Eric

Eric, I think this is wonderful. I like the hint of blue in the lake. I like the log too and also agree about the empty space in the LLC.

This is really nice...especially the way the light illuminates the mountain. IMHO much more powerful than the first post of this locale.

I like this a lot - I much prefer this one over the first one. Very nice.

what amazing lighting! Fantastic. And the great diagonal lines, as well.

Eric,

This is wonderful! The lighting on the mountain propels this image way beyond the other one, IMO. I'm impressed with the vast collection of logs and branches you must be hauling around the continent to always have a foreground handy...

Great shot!

I think that this is fantastic as is. The quality of the light is amazing, especially on the water, and the overall composition is extremely effective. This gets     , five being best.

This shot is extraordinary IMO. I like the log quite a bit.

Beautiful! That light is awesome. My only nit is the large triangle of boring gravel a the LLC. But I don't see any way around that, and the mountain and sky draw the eye away from it, anyway.

Maybe in the foreground, but in the background there is definitely some overlap--the mountain in the background is in both shots. :P

Eric, I really like the color of the water and the sweet light on the mountain. I wish you had taken one of your patented verticals, just the water and the mountain and a hint of surf at the bottom of the frame. :)

Yeah, me too  . Pretty much my first reaction when I edited this one. Oh, well - another time.

Thanks,
Eric

I like this. The lighting is great. The lower left corner is so so but still a very nice shot.
