Candyland...that was my first thought on seeing the amazing colors, shapes, and textures in this view from Badlands NP. This was shot, appropriately, at Panorama Point Overlook one morning last July. The light was wonderfully soft and overcast all morning, a rarity in the Badlands, enabling me to shoot for hours instead of minutes.

Danny,

When I first saw the image and did not read the description, I said Badlands. This really screams Badlands, nice one.

I remember this from your site. I love those red/pink stripes.

This one is fantastic Danny. About as good of a shot as is possible for this type of terrain.

The technicals and the pano orientation couldn't be any better. I'm not familiar with the terrain but it might be nice to see the tips of the peaks.

Beautiful! Badlands at their finest. That light overcast is perfect for the tones of the topography.

The range of colours here is fantastic - a much richer colour pallette than the badlands of Alberta. The light has really allowed you to capture them beautifully. I'm just a little unsure about the composition - I think I'm looking for a little more structure or something - but that's probably just me.

cheers,
Eric

Great capture. The colors are wonderful. This doesn't have the magenta cast that a lot of Velvia 100F scans do. What did you scan it with?

Thanks for all the comments :) Dan, this was just scanned on the cheapie Epson flatbed that I use for web stuff. All of my V100F *does* scan very magenta; it's been corrected in PS. I've found the magenta cast much easier to correct than Provia 100F's overly blue cast, esp. in overcast light.
