It's one of my few mountain reflections. Hopefully I get some more when I go to the sierras in a couple of weeks.

I've been away from the Sieras too long - this is a reminder to get my butt back there. A very nice shot

This I like :D . (I have such a way with words). You've got everything covered here...good light, shadows, reflection and good composition with none of the elements competing with each other but rather blending together very well.

Lovely place and shot.

I'm always torn about taking these types of shots where the sun is strong on one side of the mountain but shadowed on the other.
You did a great job exposing for the lower light detail and bringing light into the foreground reflection, but would it have been a better shot if the lighting were more even, or there was something separating the Bright and dim areas?

In Architecture photos, you would not want an image of two towers where one is lit and one was in shadow, or where the top half of a building is lit while the lower half isnt.

Just food for thought/discussion, not a negative comment of your image.

Great Shot! I have a few shots from Yosemite taken about 3 years ago...I'd like to go back now, know what I know about taking landscape shots....

I also really like the reflection. I like the little grasses in the foreground too.

Dan,

This is a great capture of a very wonderful place. I really like the strong foreground here as well as the spectacular background. I do not agree with eSearing that it would be better with more even lighting, on the contrary I like it just as it is.

An obvious problem though is the huge contrast range with scenes like this. The way you used the ND is probably as good as it can be done. Nonetheless I do see artifacts on both sides of the image where the trees get darker higher up from the ND.

Very nice...I agree that the grasses are a great touch. I'd also like to see a vertical version that consists, basically, of the left-hand side of this image. It would place a lot more emphasis on El Capitan and its reflection.

A classic scene, nicely executed. Looks like a scene that's begging for a large format transparency though!
