Good to be here gang! Here is one shot I got last weekend at Ashford, WA.

An incredibly well executed photo. I'm not sure whether or not to be happy when I view it since without the trees chopped down there wouldn't be a photo this good or to be sad because of what we are doing to wilderness areas like this. A very provocative image.

I agree with E.J. That it's a shame to see all those trees cut down but you've made a very nice shot with the elements that you had.

Mahesh,

My first impression was sadness. But it is a well executed photo. The lighting is excellent.

Thanks for the kind words, gang! This scene really is very tragic. However, the green and life signifed by the hills and the water, I think, serve to temper the sadness of the chopped down trees...we can think of the setting sun as the end...with a promise of a new day soon to come.

Amazing photo that tells a sad story, but with hope like you said. Can yo share more information? Were the trees recently cut? It looks to me like maybe they were cut long ago, covered by water, and recently exposed as waters receded.

Thanks again, gang. I really have no idea what happened to these trees and why they were chopped down. The were chopped down quite a few year ago, I think, Kelly. There was a dam very close by, and I'm suspecting that in the other seasons, the dam is used to hold the water and allow for recreational activities at the area...boats and stuff. Maybe they chopped the trees down so people could do that kind of stuff (as the water level rises)...this is all pure speculation, however.

I too, am torn between the appreciation of an awesome photo, and the tragedy of what we're doing to our planet.

This is very well done. Good eye!

Beautiful image with almost edible tonalities. And a very sad picture too. Definitely makes you think.
