Here is something I ran across while driving into the Monument Valley one afternoon. I came back in the next morning to shoot the reflection. Unfortunately I am not sure if it works or not...

I think it works. I like the broken up reflection.

I think it works very well, love the comp and the reflection. Though it does look like you shot this the first time by

I got all muddy at this pool as I got down on the ground for a different angle of this same spot - a nice shot but I would prefer separation of the mitten from the mesa behind - perhaps not possible - it looks like there was a lot less water than when I was there.

I think that if you crop about 1/4 to 1/3 of the right hand side then it will work quite nicely.

EJ this was on the dirt road as you drive towards the Ford Point stop. It must have rained there recently or something happened. In the afternoon before I did not see any reflection.. So I decided to come back the next morning...

If I got down on the ground for this shot I could not get the mitten in the reflection.. I tried several locations to setup the camera... Only one that kept the reflection was standing up and walking about 5-6 feet back from the pool or dirty water and setting up the lens...

I think I used either the 80-200 or the 75-300 I had at the time there...

I like how the shadow defines shape - the merged tones on the right side of the mitten is a little distracting - but like you said - not easy to get another perspective and keep reflection.
