This is truly a last-moment image. I searched for an appropriate "golden light" subject along Lake MacDonald at Glacier NP last July, and finally found a spot that looked promising from the road. Sure enough, it was good, so I hauled the equipment down to the shoreline and set up. The composition needed continual tweaking to include ever-so-slightly more foreground, meaning that focus and tilt had to be readjusted each time. Glancing across the lake, the sun was precariously close to dipping behind the mountain range! Finally, I clicked the shutter less than a minute before the sun disappeared, leaving these foreground rocks in heavy shadow.
