Monument Valley - Navajo Nation, USA

At sunset, East Mitten and Merrick Butte go into shade while West Mitten stays in sunlight in fall through spring.

This is beautiful EJ. I love these landscape images. This is definitely an area I need to work on. Way to go. :D

The color, clarity and sharpness of your photos is consistently right on as far as I'm concerned. This is a good example. The details can be picked out and the image is very clear even in the shadow areas.

Definetly one of the most unique photos of Monument Valley that I have seen. I like the MV and I like your photo.

E.J.,

Very neat. Its like looking at an actor on stage under the spot light.

Good one, EJ...this is a great reminder that the time of year can be a very important factor. Thanks for the reminder.

I've been to Monument Valley three times[never in mid Aug], and I have never seen the light only on the north mitten. This is a fantastic photo. I am green with envy. BTW, did you find the Navajos to be cooperative?

Correction,
West mitten rather than North mitten. I have missed this light each visit. But I will remember this next time. Thanks for the tip.

Very cool! I really like the open composition with large spaces along with the obviously spectacular lighting.

Such magical lighting...I've never been to Monument Valley but will have to plan a trip there. I use to live in Las Vegas, but never had the forsight to visit this beautiful place.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.
