This one is kind of an emotional favourite for me as I consider it to be my first successful photograph. It was literally about 6 months before I took another photograph that was really successful.

I was lucky to get this unique shaft of light to complement the classic shape of the mountains reflected in the lake. The top peak is a wee bit hot, but this was shot in JPEG rather than RAW (early days) so I don't have anything to recover it from.

Thanks,
Eric

What strikes me about this is the mirror smoothness of the water. Every time I've bee at Lake Louis there has been a little chop. I like the dramatic light beam a whole bunch.

Eric,

I clearly remember this one. I liked it then, and I like it now! The light beam is very nice. Great composition too.

Great and unique.
I like the contrast between the warmth of the beam and the coldness of the grey clouds.
I'd also live without the sky to make a more 'abstract' image but it would be another photograph.

Eric, Really nice, especially with the contrast between the light shaft and background mountains!

well done. I like this image, however what I might try is to crop the image from the top to just above the montain in the background. I think it helps create a better balance.
