Banff National Park - Alberta, Canada
EOS 1Ds, 70-200 @ 73mm, 1/6, f/8, 0.6 GND, ISO 100

Many of you may have seen this one before. This is the view looking south down the Spray River from southern part of the Banff Townsite just after sunrise. I really liked this spot because it is a beautiful location but one that you rarely see in photographs of Banff National Park.

AFAIK, I haven't seen one from this location. And you're right...it's beautiful (the location *and* the photograph)!

Thanks for sharing another perspective on Banff! I have to go there some day :)

EJ,

I clearly remember this one. I think I was the only person back then that wasn't overwhelmed by the shot... The light is obviouslt great, and the bright aspen are wonderful, but the mountain to the right seems artificially dark from the ND, and I think the composition needs something to the left to balance...

I realize this is harsh, and most people will probably disagree with me, but I find this a bit below the phenomenal standard most of your shots hold.

It's a pretty picture. The lines work for me and it doesn't feel unbalanced.

I like it - IMO the balance is fine because of the stream's curvature at LL corner. If that hadn't been there, I'd feel it was unbalanced. I think the UR corner could be lightened a touch to make the ND less noticeable, but overall it's a lovely image.

As usual, a spectacular image.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.
