Mount McKinley-Denali NP

They say that on a clear day you can see forever!!!!, On the way to Denali NP we could see Mt. McKinley from Anchorage, 100+ miles as the Crow flies!!, Next day it was as beautiful as when we arrived, Caribou, Moose , Ptarmigan, Grizzlies , Golden Eagles, Dall sheep and Foxes greeted us upon our arrival, No Wolfs were willing to attend the reception due to prior commitments!!!, Those of you who have been there already know very well that an image can not capture the grandeur and beauty of the place!!
This is my tiny effort!!!
Full frame, D1x, Raw format, Lens=28-70mm afs f/2.8-2.8, FL=70mm, Manual exposure, 125sec SS-f/22, EV-1/3, IS=400, No flash, WB=Auto
Any and all comments welcome!!!

An amazing mountain and an amazingly clear day. I love the fall colors. To really make those colors pop - a 2 stop hard GND would really bring out the foreground and hold the mountain exposure in check.

Nice shot. With that digital you should have plenty of shadow detail... Too bad about the bland sky though.

This may be the first image I've seen of this mountain when it wasn't surrounded by clouds. I like the blue sky, but I agree wtih those who suggest a NG filter to subdue both the mountain and the sky just a bit.

Nice shot, Alex...a bit less sky and a bit more contrast on McKinley would have been nice, I think.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Well your "tiny effort" had produced an awesome shot. You were so fortunate to have great weather. I know very little about landscape images and technicals of them. With an image like this....it's all about the memory.....and what a grand memory you must have of the trip.

Well done. Love the very low clouds and that blue line through the foreground. ND might have helped but I'm guessing that you have the detail in the shadows even without the ND if you wanted to lighten the foreground.

Alex,

One of those clear days and you made the best image. It should go on the wall.

Hey Alex,

Now you're getting me mad!!! :D

I'm not even gunna tell you how many days I spent in Denali this summer, and this is WAY more than I saw of the mountain the whole time. How long were you there for? Amazingly clear day for you here, I hope you enjoyed the experience.

I would suggest a 1-stop GND rather than a 2-stop .. I think a 2-stop would be a bit much for the shadows on the mountain.

It's a joy to behold, ain't it!

Cheers

Carl

That's a beautiful image of McKinley.
For those who said the sky would have been better with some clouds: at over 20,000 ft, McKinley is usually way above the usual cloud layers. The cloud bottoms around here are typically 3000 to 5000 feet. Unfortunately, for this mountain, either you see all of it or none of it!
I think it's great as is, but I think you could also crop off the top and almost make a pano out of it.
