The green coloring that you see is real. My guess due to the dark canopy and the reflection off all the green pines.

Harvey, I love this shot. I'm from Georgia so I see a lot of pines, but I rarely see scenes this pretty. I would like to see the scene without the dead tree just for comparison.

So would everyone else :) I hope to go back as this is right near my house when I get another heavily fogged AM and retake this at a slightly different angle.

This is a very striking image Harvey. The compulsive part of me wishes that the dead trunk wasn't in the frame creating a neater, more serene image but another (undefined :?) part of me appreciates it as a real representation of this slash pine forest. The green tone is amazing creating sort of a pre-historic, pea soup, beginning of time feel. A dinosaur would not look out of place here IMO. I like it!

I love images that make you feel you can walk right into them. This is certainly a good example.

Yup, this is an extremely compelling shot and, yup, I'd also like to see a version without the dead tree. Harvey, please post any other versions of this scene that you get a chance to shoot down the road.

Harvey, i love the fog and the mood it creates. The right half of this image is good imo, the left i feel is just too cluttered. My 2 pennys.

Personally, I like the dead tree. I think it provides extra depth, and provides nice contrast to the greens of the rest of the image. I wouldn't change a thing. Very beautiful and compelling shot.

It does have that "ancient" feel to it, and I would not change a thing about it.
Love it!!! :)

I like this as is. Although an alternative vertical crop just from the right side is just as appealing.

I like this very much. Personally I want to see the dead tree in the picture, just not imposed in the middle of the foliaged tree behind it. I am also slightly bothered by the near-overlap of the tree in the right FG with the one behind it. I think I'd like to see an image from the same location but taken with wide angle from a point closer to the trees. Picky, picky, I know...

Harvey, Great mood and colors to this. As others have said, I feel like I could walk into it. I think it might have helped if you had taken a step to the right or left to have a bit more separation between the dead trunk and the live tree behind it. I don't mind the dead trunk at all and think it adds to the photo, especially because you have some very young saplings so you have the range of the life cycle.

Superb image, Harvey...an image of the week candidate for sure! Love the predominant greenish tones here.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

This is a magical scene. I like it as is, but would certainly experiment with some other arrangements too.
