Nine years ago I was at Bryce for the first time in my life. When I reached one of the overlooks, the view took my breath away. I turned back to call my friends to the overlook and when I turned back to see it for the second time, it took my breath away again!
Image
This was photographed that first afternoon I was there. This was taken from Sunset point, actually just to the right of the overlook. It was overcast and drizzling and still the harshness of Bryce comes through. What I like about this image is the detail in the hoodoos and the layered effect in the canyon.

BTW I was there last October, and what a dissapointment to have found that this tree has died. :( Only a small dried up stump is there now.

Beautiful image Youssef, i think the rain helped to bring out the some nice color for you here. The comp is excellent imo, though i wouldnt mind seeing a touch more fg llc. Ashame about the tree, but im sure one will take its place at some point. Im positive if i ever get to see this in person myself, it would take my breath away also, Very nice!!

This is a great shot, Youssef! I think you did well to not include any sky as you said the day was overcast. I do get a great sense of depth and texture looking at this image. It definitely has a different feel to it than mine. Plus it's not one of those "classic" shots of Bryce. Great job, Youssef...no nits from me...dang! :-)
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Yup, this has a good sense of depth to it. I just keep looking over the edge to see farther down.

Great image of this beautiful place. I'm wondering though - where is the dead tree? they all look green and vibrant to me.

Very nice and the rain really helped to make those colors pop.

Guy,

The foreground tree is now a dead tree. I was standing in the very spot where I made this image 9 years ago and the foreground tree is dead. :(

Dan,

I have enlarged this as a print. Its in my show and yes it does grab people's attention.

Actually I titled this image "In The Face of Hardship", although after last October's visit I might need to rename it. Any suggestions??

I was there for the first time a few months ago, and experienced the challenge of making a photo that captures the sense of majesty I got from standing there and observing. I think you did a terrific job here, this image gives a real sense of perspective.

Very nice, and somewhat atypical although I'd still have picked it out at Bryce :) My only (small) change would be a slight crop at bottom to remove the slight edge of the nearest rock that's trying to peek up from the margin.

Youssef,

This is wonderful! Found myself immediately speculating about the geological processes that created this layering...
