This is an old image I did about 10 years ago. the technique is mohlerization. In my case, I shot with slide film, then copied to print film, then emersed the print in water and used various instruments to engrave the emulsion. Then I took another slide of the results. In this case, that slide was scanned. Lots of work. The mohlerization process took between 10 minutes and 8 hours per photo. A similar effect can be done in photoshop, though I have not tried to do so. Perhaps it might be interesting to try some time. The color of the scribed lines varied between gold/ gold brown and white, depending on either reaching the bonding layer for the gel, or penetrating the paper behind.
By the way, digital in this effect and technique involves using your fingers (digits)

Technicals are too complicated to try to list.

Steve, I love what you did with the patterns here. Having the ears in it completes the image, too. This is bizzare, but I really like it.
