A P&DA Technique
Introduction
First let me say that by Vintage Character I mean artificially aging a photograph using photoediting. Typically this method involves adding yellowing or sepia tone and artifacts suchs as stains, fading, scratches and tears to duplicate the natural aging process that would occur with a print image on photographic paper.

Details
I simulated age artifacts by adding the Rust texture, and made another set of adjustments in Brightness/Contrast and Hue/Saturation.

I used the Efex Old Photo filter to accentuate grain further, vignetted the corners a bit, and finally simulated stained edges by using the lasso tool to make an irregular selection around the outside, filling it with brown and blurring.
