Now for some action.  A Red Lechwe runs across the Okavango Delta flood plains in Botswana, after spotting lions.  You can see in front of him the track through the water created by another of his group who had gone a moment before him.

Again, PS and Topaz used, until I got the desired effect.

Wonderful elaboration Carol.
I love the impact of the warm and bright color of the Red Lechwes coat in the background.
A well dosed elaboration that expresses considerable creativity.

I love how you've emphasized the action and kept the beautiful light on this charmer. The eye is bright and the brushwork just right. Just one little detail-somehow he lost his nose, at least to my eye. Perhaps it just need to be darkened or restored? Otherwise top-notch!

Thank you so much for your valued comments on my efforts, Cindy.  I really appreciate your Artist's 'eye'.  :)   With regard to the nose, the Lechwe has a cute little upturned 'button' nose, the top part is the same red coloured fur as the rest of the hide, with just the lower part black - quite unlike the Whitetail Deer, which I'm sure you are familiar with, which have the more pronounced large black nose.  When the Lechwe is running, it turns its little nose up to get more air, hence the almost snub nose appearance.  I can assure you, no noses were harmed or  removed in the conversion of this photo into a 'painting'!  :D

My apologies, Carol! Of course I expected a black nose, being very provincial. Now I am properly educated by my most esteemed expert in wildlife behavior!  Thank you for that, and I shall retract my evaluation and upgrade my estimation of your already considerable talents!

Lovely work, Carol, you really have a dab hand at creating these beautiful images.

It must be wonderful to witness this spectacle in vivo.

Hey,  I have learned a lot from you over the years about your native flora and fauna, which I wouldn't otherwise have known, so it works both ways, and I thank you for that.  Wildlife is my main subject, so I like to find out as much as I can about each species as I go along - and I still have so much to learn!
