This is so cool Diana. The treatment suits both the heron and the pine needles. Wonderful!

Love this one. I have seen them in the forest, but never in a spruce. Is this from a straight shot?

This is from a straight shot. This particular Great Blue Heron hangs out at a local park. I have seen her in several different trees but never in this one. We have so many Great Blues around here that I don't usually photograph them but I really loved her position in this tree.

A lovely original with just enough enhancements to complete this beautiful artwork, Diana. I really like this a lot!

+1 to John on all counts of your beautiful image !!  Like John I live in an area where there is no lens ever made that could get close enough.  Before my Dad passed away he was living in Delray Beach, Florida and when I went to the nature preserves in his area I was stunned that I frequently couldn't get far enough away from some herons to fit them in the shot !!  You must live near a similar situation at your park in Oregon. Again, very nice image.

Thanks for all of the nice comments! Yes we are lucky to have so many Great Blues around. Many of them are not the least bit skittish!

Love this-a beautiful and unusual setting for the great blue. (At least unusual for around here). The deep greens and pine cones really enhance the image with complementary colors. Your choice of textures is excellent. It's really a treat to see this.

Wow! Diana! This is an incredibly beautiful and impressive super artwork!
I love the processing you did on the Heron feathers and pine needles.
Congratulations!
