Taken in Treetops  A close up of Elephants feeding less than 3 meters.  Showed original a while back, but thinking a revisit might get to what I felt and wanted to show.

A blend of three Topaz Glow.  Fur and Feathers, Morning Mist and Airbrush.  Lots of playing with layers, selective erasing and opacity.

Please feel free to view uncompressed.  Thank you for looking.

Dave, great use of layers and different TG textures to complete this wonderful image. The close-in juxtaposition of the trunk next to the foot of the elephant is absolutely brilliant. A very creative and beautiful image!!! :)

Wow- that sure says "elephant"! I also see it as an abstract of sorts with all those textures and colors and shapes. The trunk looks a bit reptilian to me-a strange take I suppose, on the feel of this creation.
I like the way the light is shines here-a nice glow. Really an amazing and clever work of art, Dave!

Your combo works so well with the distinctive textures of the ele hide and trunk, Dave!  How many other animals are so instantly identified by just one foot and the upper lip/nose?  :)

Thanks Cindy.  So appreciate your feedback.  Particularly in light of your own artistic talent.  That trunk, green 'ness comes from algae.  How rare is it to see that underside of an elephant trunk?   Don't know that answer but at 64 years old, I don't recall many views.

Problem I had with this image is that I knew what I wanted to show, which was part colour based, but importantly retain the raw feel and fundamentals of the ethos of the Elephant, but push emotive elements through.  A story.

Trouble I found is one algorithm provided one aspect, the second moved forward but introduced a step backward in reduced colour and contrast, and it took a bit to get a blend that produced some "fire" and punch, but allowed subtlety, so to retain the original goal.  (six different layers in PS to play with)... and two glasses of good red wine.  LOL.  :)

Hope makes sense.
