A sunset during a wildfire in the Jemez Mountains west of Santa Fe. The smoke made for a fiery sunset.

Would you recognize that this is not a straight shot?

Hi Joe- love seeing your original for comparison- it's a terrific photo! As for this one, -love the idea and it is quite well done, but I think the very straight lines across the moon reflection make it less convincing. Perhaps you could soften those lines or put in a bit of ripple? Still, pretty amazing what you can do with a phone!

Thanks for your input, Cindy. I’ll have to explore this and other apps to see if there is a way to adjust the ripples, etc.  Basically, this is a just one button creation. BTW, that is actually the sun shining behind the smoke. One of the few times the sun doesn’t just blow out.

Oops...errr, Sun!
Here's an interesting approach, though not as simple:

Maybe you could just use the wave filter if you have photoshop?

Very nice, Joe. The reflection here is better, and I love the combination of smoke and sun.

It works for me! Gorgeous colours and I love the dramatic mood this image conveys. The reflection is very convincing and adds a lot to the scene.

Joe, I'm a sucker for reflections like these, and the drama of fiery colors is quite grand - very much enjoyed!
