Took this today in the rain, and thought I'd try the old Orton technique on it. (You can see my tutorial for this if you go to "Announcements" , top right in P&DA, then look under "Techniques". ) Some other good stuff there too.   It is a little tricky to get the desired glowing effect- not sure I got just right this time....

I added a little grain, vignette and a few other tweaks.
Looks a little dull unless you click on the full version.

By the way, Gary Briney worked incredibly hard to to put all these "techniques"together-we had fun with them. Some don't work now- an unfinished project. I miss him! He is gone, to be forever with his beloved daylilies, or so would like to imagine. Perhaps this is created in his memory, now that I think of it.

Cindy, a wonderful tribute to Gary. I miss him too. He was always busy with his tasks at NatureScapes. The glowing effect is present and effective. Good for you shooting in the rain today. A lovely image.

I'm not really a fan of the 'Orton' effect and this does strange things to my eyes...   Your other version in F&M is much more to my taste, but what do I know,  I can only say what I feel.  Photography, and especially Photo Art, is SO subjective.   I admire your experimenting, without trying new things we'd never move on.....but I'll re-align my eyeballs and retreat.  Your talents are not in question here - I think Mr Orton has a lot to answer for.  8)

Hey Carol, I not only respect your evaluation, I don't think this particular version is very effective-it looks a little better in the enlarged version, but not really what I wanted. Yeah, gotta experiment! Thanks for your honest feedback.
