Entering into Cindy and Ron's black and white challenge, my first attempt, a European White Stork in black and white and painted with PS and Topaz.

It certainly is not easy to convert an image to b/w and also paint it!  I hope more of you will have a go!! :D

This is wonderful, Carol. The tonal range is excellent, great pose with eye contact, and lovely texture throughout. My favorite feature, however, is the three dimensional appearance of the Stork. Just beautiful.

What a great subject and conversion! This one works beautifully-both with the strong contrasts, and the wonderful expression/pose of the stork. I'm with you- I love color, but I'm enjoying the B&W challenge. Yours is proof that it can work really well (with the right person behind the wheel...) ;).

Fine work here, especially for the first try!
Love the textures, detail, and position of the bird.
