Gorgeous painterly effect, Clive. Really has a watercolor look to it, and a superb photo in itself. Best seen enlarged. The blue texture is especially nice, enhancing the bird nicely.

the BG texture works for me !
nice overall effect on the bird also.

Like the texture here, as well as the colours. IMO, it might be an even stronger image if the eye was sharp and clear. To me, the eye often anchors and image.

I do agree with you about the eye - it got rather washed out with the watercolour effect!
