Image made during a visit to a small local nature reserve hosting several very old oak trees. A humbling experience, if one takes time to realise that these trees witnessed the invasion by Napoleon.....

Made with Nikon D500 and 16-80mm lens - my current walk about gear.

I tried to give the image a bit of a painterly, impressionistic look using a mix of PS CC and NIK tools...C&C very welcome.

Excellent processing - just beautiful.
Not so sure about the frame - to me, detracts a bit.
This would work well with a more traditional art frame that a museum might use.

This is just lovely- such a tender treatment for the old tree, just giving it a soft glow. It looks so alive with limbs spread out in all directions, as if it could get up and move about. The lighting is quite magical. I think I agree with Sandy about the framing, only because on the bottom it creates a straight line at the bottom of the tree, where I'd rather see the full grassy picture. Not too big a detriment, however, to a very fine image.

Thanks for the kind comment, Sandy.
The frame is easily removed - just as layer in PP - which I would if I printed and mounted it.

Thank for the kind praise, Cindy.
Critique reading frame is duly noted.... and easily corrected.
Thanks again for stopping by - appreciate the input.

A majestic oak revealing history and character. I like the dark shadows found on many of the large extended tree limbs which actually define and add dimension to the image. Very nicely done!

Such a wonderful old oak, so full of character, what stories it could tell!  Trees like this make such fantastic photography subjects and you have captured this one beautifully.  :)
