D7100-720nm IR, 16-80mm @ 50mm, ISO 100, f/8, 1/50s

I don't often post here but this is a technique I learned in a three day class on infrared photography last weekend.  It takes a normal monochrome infrared image and simulates the IR films of old where it is much less about detail and much more about the IR glow that is reflected when sunlight hits green foliage.  To really see it, you have to click on the image.

so should be looked at larger.  Interesting advert for the old 50mmm focal length.  Much to enjoy EJ.  been interesting to have seen what an ordinary 50mm could produce.  as an image, I'd buy this.. no hesitation.

Very interesting simulation- as you say, there is little detail, at least in the long row of trees. Yet there is strong contrast where the shadow is on the lone tree. Overall, it has a lovely soft feel in spite of the strong contrasts.  I always find it hard to evaluate this kind of photo- it is so different.  I  DO like the mood here. Thanks for showing us the very different perspective.

Would be nice to see the original.

The lone tree on the left with its reflection is striking and makes the image for me. I admire you for continuing your photographic education by taking this course. I know nothing about IR, but I like what I see here. Beautiful work, EJ.

Was not particularly impressed when I viewed it on iPad or desktop. That's up until I clicked on image and it really stood out!!! It really shows the beauty of infrared that's appreciated by some and not understood by others! I guess it would be boring if we all liked the same things all the time!
