Return of Plop the Owl? Looking very thoughtful, or perhaps just sleepy? Lovely setting and rendering of this little beauty. I like the tall setting. Maybe dull down the front blur? A really sweet picture with just the right touch with the feathers, and clear eyes.

Dave, the first thing I noticed in this image, besides the cute little owl, was the empty space above it. So, I thought, why would Dave include more than one-half of the upper part of the image with nothing in it? First, I thought the obvious, that the space could be used for editorial text when you license the image. But that seemed too obvious. Then, it hit me. You used the vast negative space above the Tawny Owl to emphasize its presence or its "compact" size. Sitting back and looking at the image, the void above does exactly that. And although it may break the traditional "rules" of composition, it does so successfully, and serves a legitimate purpose. Brilliant!

Lovely use of space with this tiny little beauty,  it looks like its sitting on a cloud!  Sweet textures and light enhance the plumage so well and the overall image is a treat for the eyes.  8)

thanks Ron.  First thing I thought when I saw the bird was it's diminutive size compared to the tall trees in the bg, dwarfing it.  (it looked so small and vunerable)... (have used space for editorial but it just looked so small there was no thought in my mind for the close up)...

thanks Carol and Cindy.  always appreciates your thoughts, time and comments and a pleasure to share with you

I really like this David, so creative. It has been a while since I have seen a Tawny Owl.

nice effects here david!
the owl texture is cool !!!!!
for my taste the empty space is a bit too large, with little texture....
but thats just my personal taste, but i guess theese are the interesting aspects of changing ideas here i guess ;-)

regards
andre.
