Thought this might be of interest.  Arrival of image via Topaz Glow.  Various efforts involved.  Layers.. Opacity changes.   Dancing between Liquid designs and fantasy for differing parts of the image, plus selective contrast and sharpening.  Please feel free to click on the image.  (sort of omg have I been drinking v I can see clearly now..)

Ha ha- I like the OMG part! Seriously though, this is charming! The textures in the owl and branch are just right. Eyes and beak are beautifully preserved. The mood of the piece is wonderful with that intense stare and the feeling of tension like the owl is about to take off. The background is perhaps a little dizzy. ;). I'm thinking of what I said to Sandy about her Cheetah though. It really depends how closely you view the picture. From a slight distance the swirlies are insignificant. I think we forget sometimes to look at something as if it were a print on the wall (as it should be!) rather than something 8 inches from one's nose!

Anyway , frame it and hang it up-love it!

Yes, it appears that the young Monet in residence has been very busy, indeed! Great work, Dave! Cindy's comments are right on, and I would only add that the composition and eyes are excellent. It's a minor fact, but the catch lights in the eyes really draw me into this lovely creation. Awesome image!  :)

All, just had to say thanks for your kind words... (now back to the red wine....)... How perceptive of you Cindy.... thanks... it does and is meant to be seen on a wall.  just is difficult to get the right amount of effect as intended to be hung in a hall and viewed from a couple of feet..  Ron... love the young bit...  :)   thanks all

excellent image! the eyes, especially, are mesmerizing. The textures work great here. I wonder, though, how it would be if the BG was isolated so only the owl got "textured".
Really nice as is, though.
