Posted original in bird section. The original reminded me of a vintage wall paper cr. 1920 so I tried to encapsulate that feel. Here I brought out the pinks and muddied the whites. I should add a layer with paper texture?

I definitely get that vintage feel, AnnaMaria. Nice habitat and environment for the egret, and I like the positioning of the egret at the water's edge. If you wouldn't loose too much of the vintage feel, you could consider a square crop, positioning the egret on the left looking through the remainder of the frame. It might balance things out a little, and I don't feel you need that much vegetation behind your subject. Just a thought. :)  By the way, you sure have a beautiful location where you photograph egrets and herons.

Hi AnnaMaria

I agree with Ron- a very lovely setting for the Egret, and nice pose. I can see how you would imagine some vintage wallpaper. The left side, perhaps takes away from the heron. I think you might play with some textures to get more of that wallpaper look. When you work with layers you can always add and subtract-that's part of the fun of playing with variations. This is certainly a beautiful picture in it's own right too!

I like what you've done with this one and think your suggestion of trying texture would enhance the image more towards your vintage theme. Ron and Cindy have said it all really, so I can't add any more. Beautiful bird and a nice image to experiment with AnnaMaria!

Thank you all for suggestions. Yes, usually I crop flower/bird in a 1x1 square for greeting card purposes. I will position egret on left and add a texture but the paper I use to print already is a softer linen. Thank you so much for the comments; truly appreciate it!
