I photographed this colony of white pelicans as the setting sun was about to vanish - truly at "last light." Painted with Topaz Impression (multiple tweaks).
Nikon FX, Nikkor 500mm + 1.4x, f/10 @1/640, ISO 1600, Gitzo Tripod, Wimberley II Head, Boat Blind. Please click on image to view larger.

Absolutely delightful, Ron! First of all, as a composition I just love all the beaks every which way, and yet creating a whole within the group. The lighting is magical, and the painting wonderfully done, bringing out the colors and enhancing the motion and feathers of the birds with just the right brush strokes. A wonderful study in Orange, white, yellow and blue which are so harmonious. (Can you tell I REALLY like this? ;) )

A lovely arrangement of preening pelicans Ron, and the gorgeous light just makes this special!

Clicking on the image really shows just how superbly done this is. Print this large and frame it!

Very nicely done and well deserving of EP. I love the grouping and the light is wonderful. The Impression Filter gives this an high art feeling.

Lovely effect Ron! I love the light here, and I suspect the original has great dynamics as well.Topaz has great effects built into their software! (once you learn them and tweak them to your liking!).

Thanks, Mark. Agree with your comment about Topaz - tweaking is the key.

Very painterly and creative!
Just enough detail to keep the interest, and then with Monet-like water.
Just beautiful!
