Gary, great composition and positioning of the gull in the panoramic format. The diagonal divide between the blue and green/gold water is very attractive and allows the gull to be showcased beautifully. Although an abstract, the waves in the water and the reflection of the gull appropriately hint of a sense of place. A very handsome image, Gary. Would love to know what steps you took to create it.

Ron and David,

Thanks for your kind comments.

Here's a link to the previous version of the image. Though it's been a while, here's what I can remember: the a copy of the original was flipped horizontally in PS, blended at reduced opacity, with the blue-gold color supplied by a gradient. A touch of the Wave filter gave the additional waviness.

I'm sure we've all wondered what it would feel like to be as free as a bird and fly above the earth.  Your lovely artwork gives a glimpse of that wonderfully uplifting experience, and I love the blurred lines between fantasy and reality that allow us to truly enjoy the moment.  So good to have your vision and creativity to enjoy once again Gary!  A real feel of the good old days, and I'm sure Moo would approve!  8)

Absolutely one of my favorites of yours Gary. Thanks so much for bringing us this vision- it suits my sense of artistic aesthetics to a "T". I especially love the soft undulating flow of the bird and waves. Colors are also delicious.

I remember this picture in one of your enlightened tutorials, and found that one (Composites) to be especially enlightening.

By the way,all our old tutorials can now be found under "announcements" in the P&DA Gallery. Go to "Tutorials", and for this one, look here:

Love your earlier version too!

Carol, Thanks for your kind words!

Cindy, I believe you meant to say "Techniques" rather than "Tutorials" -- thanks much!
