I took this back in September of 2014 and could never figure out how I wanted to process the image until today.  It finally occurred to me to apply the Oil Painting Filter in CS6 and bingo. Not sure that the technicals matter much for this but for the record I used a Canon 1DIV and a 24-70mm lense.

Great choice for a beautiful scene Malcolm. I like how subtle it is, yet the colors and shapes are nicely contrasted and enhanced. Beautifully composed, and I especially like way the lily pads glow, a la Monet, perhaps. Also like the rich contrasts that make those fall colors pop. Well done!

The Oil Painting Filter really worked great in this autumn landscape. The lovely reflection of the trees and their vibrant color in the calm water really brings the image to life. When I click on the image to view it full size, the attractive white frame you used around the image becomes much more noticeable against the dark background, and I think it certainly makes the image "pop." A beautifully artistic presentation, Malcolm. Very nicely done!

Thank you Cynthia.  It took me forever to finally work out the crop and the processing but I'm really happy with the results and your comment on the lily pads is exactly what caught my eye when I first saw this scene.

Thank you Ron.  It's funny, I've driven by this scene numerous times every year for the past 10 years and knew it was good but that particular day all the elements were there in perfect harmony and I took 6 frames .... and then sat on them for 2+ years until the other day.
