Here's a snipe from the harbor at Conneaut, Ohio along Lake Erie last week. This guy was unusually bold in coming out in the open to forage with other shorebirds.

Canon EOS3, 600IS + 2x
Provia 100F, probably around f10 at 1/125 sec.

Bob,

This is another great shot of this guy. I like the motion in the foot. The slight head turn and the drop of water on the bill really make this special.

Excellent shot and I love the raised/blurred leg to imply action.

Love it! The low angle and the position of the bird's head makes it very intimate.

I do love the Snipe images that you have. What a bold guy this was. An excellent find!!! I just wished that he had stuck around another day. I made a specific effort in looking for him among the Dowitchers but he was not there.

Always perfect exposure and rich colors with your images. Are they all "as is" from the slides or do you crop and do other manipulation after scanning them?

I had to go back and look at the slide. This one has maybe 10% cropped off the left to keep the bird from being too centered here, and just a sliver off the top and bottom to keep this rectangular. You can't get away with too much more cropping than that with film usually, but I've sold some songbird photos that required more cropping than this.

Nice, the bird really stands out from the background here. I saw one of these for the first time myself recently, they (like all birds) are fascinating creatures. :)

Bob -

Nice to get this one in the open like this. The walking action adds to the image, and the drop of water is cool too.

Very nice.

Excellent, Bob!
Like everything I see here. The low shooting angle, motion blur of the raised foot, the water droplet at the tip of the bill etc ...

Bob,
Terrific catch to get this guy out in the open. The raised foot adds a lot.

Robert, Never expected to see a snipe this much in the open. Love the raised foot and low shooting angle.

Nice shot Robert. First thing I thought was how out in the open he is. Love the raised foot and the water drop.

All beak and no tail. Who made this bird? Wonderful image, I couldn't think of anything else to say. :D
