I was hoping to get some closeup of these Greenshanks, but no luck ... Instead I resolved into shooting this couple separated from the main flock.

Sweet image KK, I like the head up - head down poses which work well together against the lovely blue BG.

KK, a fine shot. As Carol noted, the different positions are appealing. A faint bluish cast on the bird does not need correction.

KK,

I too like the different poses of the birds and the clean blue background. This is just a nit, but somtimes I find this type of image more appealing when there is less space below the reflection so that the symmetry is not perfect..

KK,

Very sweet image! Looks like four birds. The poses are very nice with outstanding placement, reflections and nice smooth water to boot. Wonderful image!

KK, I agree with Neil regarding composition with reflections.

I also sympathize with you on your difficulties getting close to this species; my experience agrees with yours.

I really love the isolation here. It works for me cropped or not.

These birds really stand out from the blue. This shot has a lot of appeal to me.

KK, Nice capture. Have you tried stacking teleconverters?

KK, it is beautiful, especially where blue is my preferred colour. :)

BTW, may I ask at what time of the day is this taken?

TIA.

Not in this particular occassion, Jim. Stacked TCs is okay with perfect stationary subject to allow precise focusing. These birds did not cooperate ...

The shot was taken one fine morning last week at around 0815 hrs. It was a clam day too ... at least in the morning.

I really like this one....the poses are excellent and I always love reflections. You did well choosing something different when you couldn't get closer. Nice job!

A bit more space on the left would help this image. I know how tough it is to isolate a bird or two from a flock. You did a good job here.
