Goldeneye

EOS300D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 400, 1/12000 @ F8 -1, 550EX + BB -1

The eyes on these beautiful birds really does have a piercing quality! I followed this little guy for ages as he happily floated around in the Winter sun on this bitterly cold day. Most of the time his eyes were shut as he dozed, and I had to wait for a while to get a shot with the eye open!

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

Whites are just a bit hot and I'd probably center the bird a little.
Love the eye, pose and water. Nicely Done.

:) :) :) Sweet, Sweet, Sweet. Very good separation of the head from the dark BG.

Nice image. Whites are a bit on the hot side and maybe a bit cramped in the frame.

Carol, on my monitor the exposure appears to be spot on. Alex's anal suggestion has merit - the bird's head is facing toward the left side of the frame, so more room should be allowed on the left. Don't get me wrong though, I'd take it in a heartbeat. It's a beautiful image.

Very nice! The comments from Alex and Sandy are right on. Especially Alex. If he says he is anal you should take him at his word...... he has always seemed to know what he is talking about!

Sweet stuff. I agree with the placement in the frame suggestion. Sharp and exposure nailed.

Love it, Carol. I agree with the crop suggestion, but I'd be happy to have this one as is.

Wonderful exposure. I'm seeing detail in both whites and blacks. I love the sleeping pose. :D

Nice capture although the whites are hot in spots and I'd prefer not a centered bird.

I love this pose......gives a sense of mystery. I think I would go with Alex's suggestion on the crop.....simple to do. Everything else really looks good.

Carol:

I love the posture and the color, with a more powerful lens it could be an awsome image of just his eye.

Very nice image, Carol. Other than the earlier comment about position in the frame, I have no nits. I actually have a Ring-necked Duck image I am about to post that would practically be this one's twin.
