Black Skimmer (Rynchops niger)
Dunedin Causeway, Dunedin FL, on 14 Jan 2004

Arriving at the causeway between Dunedin proper and Honeymoon Island just before sunrise, the skimmers were clustered together in their usual communal manner. They were an indolent lot, concentrating on soaking up warmth, not food. I saw one or two birds skimming in the distance. This was one of the few opportunities to obtain a flight shot.

BTW, I have announced the opening of my new website in Photography Topics. I would appreciate your reading it.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques, and reposts are welcome.

Sandy, one of the coolest Skimmer shots to date. I love the wing position and the hanging feet.

Unique and memorable Skimmer Sandy. I must say I spent about 30 minutes at your website and it is got quite a bit of you in it. At least what I do know about you through the internet. I found it interesting, motivational, and well thought out.

I never said I couldn't do flight shots, Alex, I said (and still say) I can't do them as well as you can - and that really peeves me. Best, my friend.
