Wood Duck

Taken at the Wildfowl and Wetlands trust in December. Some late afternoon sun gave a wonderful glow. I had to follow this guy around for some time before I got all the components in just the right place.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

:D You have a very nice image here. I'm amazed at the clarity of the red eye, in a lot of my shots, though well focused, the eye does not make good definition.

Nice warm tones dave. Not much Wood Duck color coming through though.

Nice shot.

I like the clarity of the image, Dave, but I agree with Alan that the beautiful colors are not apparent - unless, of course, this is the rare Dark Morph Wood Duck  .

I agree with the above comments. Did you use fill on any of your shots of this duck? Great water color though and a beuatiful bird. Nice one.

I want this duck.......if you keep this up you are going to find me on your doorstep.
I love the "dark on dark"! The detail and colors are excellent....and one of the best eyes that I've seen on a wood duck. Great job!

Dave,

Nice shot. I like the relaxed pose and the reflection.

I find these guys one of the most difficult ducks to shoot! They are extremely elusive (the ones over here are anyway!) and getting all their true colours is so hard!

This is beautifully sharp and perfect detail - wonderful eye too. Just needs a bit more colour -and I can't talk, my shots were awful!!

Nice comp. It apears on my monitor that the blacks and midtones are a bit blocked up.
