Red Crested Pochard

EOS300D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 400, F8, 1/400, 550EX + BB -1

I am posting this shot and including the whole neck, because I am fascinated by what appears to be a distinct 'Adam's Apple' (well that's what we call them over here!!) in his throat. I have not noticed this on any other ducks - or have I not been looking properly!!????

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

Beautifully lit portrait with wonderful detail. Seems very tight on the right, as if he's in bird prison.

What a cutie. Nice close up with good detail.

I, too, would like to see a bit more room on the right.

An extremely well done side- and back-lit shot of my favorite duck. Framed ideally. The texture of the head feathers is palpable. Just a bit more room in front.

Carol,

Awesome shot!! I love how the light gently flows over and around the head. My only nit has been mentioned. :D

Truly magnificent, Carol !!! The superior light and fantastic details of the well-coiffed feathers make for an outstanding image indeed, complete with Adam's Apple !!! Great eye, beak and sweet expression!!! You have poor Alex licking his wounds. :D :D

Sweet stuff. A bit tight on the bill as mentioned but who cares! Very well done. I think the head feathers are causing you to think adams apple. Never seen a duck with one before.

The lump is interesting Carol, I wonder if it's natural or some type of growth.

Awesome detail in the plumeage, Carol. I like a little more room in the front, also. However this works well for a portrait.

This guy is certainly decked out with color and detail. Rather reminds me of a teenager getting his courage up to ask a girl out with that lump in his throat!! What a cool shot.
