The Slider - Female Mallard

While the ice is still present on the lake, I've continued to add to the "Mallard Collection". There are still a few shots left that I'd like to get but I've also gotten a lot of unique shots along the way. Jill has appropriately named this one "The Slider."

This is the moment of "touchdown" on the ice....a much more graceful landing than some I saw.

Canon 1D, 500mmL IS, shot from SUV window with towel
ISO 320, f/8, ss 1/800, EV -2/3
Photoshop - cropped, USM, levels, cleaned up the ice

This is a neat shot, Lana. The light, detail, composition and water are outstanding, but the sliding action puts it over the top for me.

It has all been said above. The sharpness of these photos, the great colors (note the feet). Perhaps a book of mallard photos is in the offing?

Sensational, Lana !!! Slider is my absolute favorite action-packed mama !!! Her grace, style, feather array and one-footed landing are the best ... bar none!!! Fabulous details, colors, comp, BG and light create a clear winner in my book!!! I do love her!!! :D :D :D
