Dark-eyed Junco, Grey-headed form
Cochise Stronghold, AZ

Here is another form of Dark-eyed Junco from SE AZ. I'd have preferred him up on a rock or other perch but this is a pretty typical place to see these guys!
Canon D30, 500mm, fill flash with bb, tripod
Cropped slightly right and bottom.

Cindy, lovely pose and exposure. Not crazy about the seed but as you said, it's where you see them. I might crop in so he's a bit bigger in the frame.

I didn't actually recognise the seed at first. I like the BG. A little crop wouldn't hurt.

Wonderlful little Junco!!!

Image:
In spite of the plethora of seed on the ground it is a very nice image IMO, Well exposed and with excellent detail, a pano crop would work also very nice here, I look the liberty of showing you one option!!, in this way you do away with the excess of seed and BG that add very little to the image!!
Congrats!! 8)

I agree with Alan on this one, Cindy. By making a crop to focus on the subject in this one, you lose some of the negative space. With something besides seed in the frame, i.e. a rock in front of or under the bird, I would probably leave as is.
