Jim Neiger's post inspired me to dig this one up and rescan it. Amazing how similar the composition is! This was taken on the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades several years ago.

Very nice Cindy! I love these anhinga portraits and this one is no exception. I think cropping the left and top (more top than left) would strengthen the composition, but fine as is. Love the clean blue background.

Very nice. I have seen many photos of these birds with one outstretched wing in the FG, so I assume this is a common thing for them to do. (Not a species we see here on the "left coast!") That doesn't make it easy to take pictures like this one, though -- your composition and exposure here are excellent.

Outstanding, Cindy!
The dark blue BG compliments so well with the color scheme of this bird ...

I like shots like this a lot - may have to post one one day! You captured this with the head angle perfect for this sort of shot.

S curve, white feathers in the neck, little feather raised by the preening beak are all little things that make this a very strong shot. Agree with Greg on the crop suggestion.

Cindy,

Greg's suggested crop would make this more dramatic. The head is turned just perfectly. Great eye.

Very nice detail here Cindy. I need to agree with Greg about the crop.
