I like to shoot shorebirds here in my home state of CT, but I still can't resist making trips down to Long Island to the Jamaica Bay NWR because of the diversity of birds and the potential for great BGs. Sometimes I get some decent stuff and sometimes I get skunked. The good days always make up for the bad.

Juvenile lesser yellowlegs, photographed a year ago at JB as it ruffled its feathers.

Paul,

This obviously was a good day. Pretty bird and nice that you got most of the bird in the blue BG.

The colours here just rock. Great light; love the slight motion blur of the ruffled wing coverts. You must be pleased with this one!

Great image. The details, colors, and bg are all awesome. I also like the distorted reflection.

Paul,

You sure captured some great colors in the background. I love the fluffy look and the slight head turn back towards you.

Hey Paul, this one is a beauty. Love the background color especially which is different from what we usually see.

Very nice Paul - both bird and background are spot on. Cool reflection, too.

Paul,

Lovely ruffled feathers, but what makes it for me is the BG. Most unusual colors...Blues you'd see in the caribbean or with glacial waters.

Paul,

Sweet as can be! Think I would like a horizontal as well. Wonderful color and detail. Very nice!

Looks like she is flirting with you! :) Nicely done. Could do with a little less open space above; might have preferred this as a horizontal.

Paul,

I can't think of any real way to improve this one; just beautiful!

I like the image but I could see cropping this to a 4:5 ratio. There is a lot of dead space below the reflection and above the bird.
