We were in Petosky Michigan for a wedding, the weather was misearable and the only getting out or the festivities was a car trip to a scenic overlook. I don't even know why I had qa camera in the front seat - things were so bad. But this Gull landed on a trash container just a few feet from the car. D100, short lens (I don't remember which one)

Jim, hope you don't mind but I edited your post to add the first "[" bracket to the "img" code, as your image wasn't showing up. Seems to be working fine now.

Good you were able to get some shooting in despite the weather. This image has a slight bit of noise to it. If it was with your D100, doesn't it record the lens and other settings? Having that info, when possible, can help with the critiques.

Did this bird really have only one leg, or was one of them tucked up and merely not visible?

The shot should be sharpened a bit with usm. It would help. But the noise should be handled first, otherwise this will be even more visible with the usm.

The framing itself is fine. Love this. On what is it standing?

Cheers

A Ring-billed Gull. A nice overall scene with a good background. The image appears to be suffering just a bit from camera shake.

The image looks very cropped making the noise from the camera stand out more and the bird a little soft. Good choice of crop though.
