(Bald Eagle) Homer, Alaska Repost on the right or below.

This was taken from a van in a parking lot at the end of the spit on a cloudy day. (We had plenty of those. ) Over all, I think this is one of my favorite images from that trip.

Handheld Nikon D100, 300mm F4.0 AFS, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/250 @ F5.6. Leveled. A bit of cloning to remove some of the dirt parking lot that was visible. Smart blur on the background to smooth the water.

I've always liked this shot, ever since I first saw it posted elsewhere. The sharpness in the reflection is amazing.

Out of all the eagle shots I have seen you post here and elsewhere, this has been my favorite. What a unique photograph. This certainly stands out, to me, as your most memorable image.

This is a remarkable shot, the smooth background and reflection put it over the top. I can see why it's one of your favorites!

Beautiful shot, Tony. Are you able to get any more info in the dark areas?

As long as you don't make me start again on this image. I'm already up to the fourth iteration of work on it. :? I'm not sure I like it this way, the color of the water isn't as rich but to answer your question, yes there is more obtainable detail in the dark areas. And once I actually get good at photoshop, I might be able to get to them better.

Tony, Fantastic photo.

I like the top version as the darks don't look like they have been lightened too much.

I like the symmetry look and prefer the top one, Tony!
The second seems to require a contrast boost ...

Great shot Tony.

I'm not sure why you reposted this.

Love it!

Hi Tony, This is nicely done. I like the left hand version much better as the blacks are richer. That reflection is wonderful! I do wish that the bird's head were cleaner.

The first one is much better as the dark colors look muddied on the second one. This is a super cool shot and quite different from the run of the mill Bald Eagle photo.

This was awesome the forst time I saw it. It still is. Another vote for the left image as the better of two.

Almost missed this one - and hadn't seen it before. How many favorites out of those 5,000 do you have? :)

This is not your normal eagle shot but it is really powerful. The tail just touching the water together with the turn of the head and the suggestion of an attitude is really nice. Definitely prefer the top version. The reflection in the second looks a bit washed out. I thought that reflections should be slightly darker than the original since only part of the light can be reflected. So I'm neither bothered nor surprised by the darkness of the first. (In fact, I could take the first reflection a tad darker!)

Tony,
I think I have seen this before, but in any event I will say it it wonderful. I like the top image better - the colors are much more vibrant.

Tony,

I'm with Bruce, I like the top image a little bit better. The contrast is excellent and really pops. The reflection is gorgeous. Sweet image!
