I hate it when that happens. It's a lot easier to leave when you've run out of light.

I like this portrait. I'd might like it more if there was a wee bit more DOF but it is still stunning the way it is.

Fantastic, love the bird's angle to the camera and its alert look. The water droplets and green background are awesome. :)

Cool image. I like the water droplets and the pose. More DOF would have helped alot IMO.

Great shot, Jimmy. I like the DOF as is. The droplets and ripples in the water work well.

Jimmy,

Cool droplets and wonderful portrait. The low angle makes this intimate.

I love this as is! Can't beat that expression. Like, "I thought you said you were going home?" :)

Nice. I am surprised that your DOF is so good at 5.6
Are you sure that this was 1/1600 @ 5.6 and if so why didn't you sacrifice a little of that shutter speed for more DOF?

A beautiful photo. The personality of the bird really comes through in this one.

Unbelievable closeup Jimmy. One of the more memorable Dowitcher shots I've seen.

Richard I had the shutter speed high to see if I could capture what they were eating when the lifted there heads and when this one came to close I just flipped the camera to vertical. I did get one shot were the water is in-between the bills but I can not make out what they were eating.

Jimmy,

I'm nuts about photographing shorebirds, but I've never gotten one quite like this. I like it a lot !!
