Autofocus with the Canon EOS 10D has a poor reputation, but at times it can perform quite well and produce excellent results... Canon EOS 10D, 300mm f/4L IS lens (IS 2 mode), ISO 200. Evaluative Metering at 0: 1/1000 sec. at f/5.6.

Artie,

Great action here and the comp is wonderful. The birds could use a little more USM to make them pop.

Great action, and they look dead sharp to me!

Artie,
Cool shot... I think I would have preferred to see the wing tips, but I like it as is.

Artie,

The action is great and the location of the two birds within the frame works well. Having the wing tips would improve the shot.

Capture of the action here is great. I especially like the pose and expression of the bird in the water.

Nice action. I guess the 10D + 300 f/4 combo is close to your old "toy lens" setup...

Very nice action. I would wish for the wingtips too. As for the 10D AF system, it is pretty darn good but those of us used to the 1D/1Ds are disappointed because it isn't even close to that in performance.

Great action. I'm not sure about the wing tips. :?
