Pete Parker and I had a very enjoyable morning shooting birds today on the bay side of Mustang Island hear Corpus Christi, TX. This guy put on a wonderful display for us. It made having to drive through short stretches of salt water a couple of times worthwhile.

1D with 600, TV exposure - 1/3 (1/500, f13, ISO 200), fill flash with BB at - 1 2/3. This is a small crop from the original.

Thanks for looking. All comments appreciated.

Bruce,

This is great. Exposure seems dead on, and the image is sharp all the way through. Way better than any action shots I got in Florida last week of Reddish Egrets (I got none that were worth a darn unfortunately)

Now I'm surprized! Is that what they're supposed to do? Just dance?

Bruce,

I'm surprized you got out at all, with all the rain were having here on the coast. Great photo showing their classic behavior. Execellent use of flash.

Great catch of the action! Love the intense look by the bird, and the detail in the feathers.

Great shot, Bruce. I've only seen one. When he danced for me, there was no light. You have certain caught the behavior that he does best.
