Hello everyone!

I've been watching for a few days. Some of you may know my name, most of you probably don't. I live on a rock that piled up in the Atlantic not too long ago and make a living photographing birds and other things of nature. I know it's a strange way to make a living, but there are certainly stranger ones. Thought I might share with you one of my models from the summer that past way too fast. His name is Little Brother in the North, quite a handsome fellow, I'm sure he'll make it to the highest ranks in the modelling world.

Thanks for looking, I'm looking forward to spending time around this forum in the loooong dark winter that's coming way too fast.

Hi Daniel, glad to see you posting here! From where I am in the desert in Az with temps still at 105 I'm more anxious for the end of summer than you are, for sure.
The color in this image is incredible, the intensity of the blue and oranges is just striking. I like your comp. Wonderful detail where it matters, I like the way you've exposed this.

Hi there Daniel! This is quite a lovely critter; very sad expression but elegantly portrayed by your camera. Maybe you could post a few technical details to let us in on your Icelandic photographic secrets! :D

Wow. This is superb! The colors are just remarkable. The details in the blacks are also exceptional. Glad to see you posting here, as I remember your wonderful images from other photography sites.

Good to see you here, Daniel!
A excellent shot of this puffin with details. The exposure was right on too ...

Nice portrait! One of these days I want to get up there and complete my "puffin" collection. In the meantime, I can stare at this image awhile. :)

Technicals? I'm a little afraid, but here goes anyway.

I go up to the glacier and get a big chunk of crystal clear ice. Then I slize it into a few very thin layers, which I polish with a special ice polisher, made for me by a troll. Next I cut the layers to fit into an empty bottle of Brennivin, and stack them one by one into the bottle. Since this is Iceland, the temperature never goes above zero, so the ice in the bottle never melts. At one end of the bottle I attach a small box, which holds a special liquid made for me by an elf. This liquid captures and holds rays of light and when I pour it onto paper, an image appears. The amount of liquid that I pour onto the paper determines how close the subject is in the final image. For this one I had to pour a lot of juice, but it's ok, cause I can get plenty from the elf. He makes it from liquified lava, more I can't tell. Don't tell the Japanese!

Thanks!

Well, if you shared with the troll, I now know how you got an empty Brennivin bottle (no human could drink that stuff.)

Daniel, it's great to have your talent at NSN, even if your brain has been damaged by the midnight sun.

BTW, the portrait is wonderful.

I'm not sure which I prefer, the shot or the technical details! :) Very cool.

Daniel,

I'm tuning in a little late, and basically have to agree with Sandy  .
