Rufous Hummingbird Selasphorus rufus

This was taken this past August at a Campground about 40 miles west of Aspen, Colorado. The campground office had hummingbird feeders and they were literally covered with hummingbirds. Getting a clean shot of an individual bird was tough at best.

Bill,

You did well with this one. The colors are excellent. I like the implied motion in the blurred wings and the fanned tail. Maybe a little less flash?

Bill,

The strength of the flash makes the hummer look a little odd, but with the intensity of the color, great wing blur and clean background, I don't think it matters much. I love it.

Wonderful shot. It does look like the flash was too hot. I love the pose and the wing blur.

Bill, great action and position within the frame. Possibly just a bit too much USM?

Beautiful, Bill -- the background is perfect and I like the upward-looking angle.

Bill:

Nice detail, I agree a little too much flash and USM resulting in a grainy background.

Gorgeous bird, Bill. A little less sharpening would be ideal.

Wonderful hummer....perhaps a little toasty...but then it warms me up with the temperatures outside right now.

I also think that the flash was a little too strong but the blurred wings and the colors are fantastic!
