This is a first year female Rufus hummingbird that was in our area last year. She took up residence at a feeder that the owner kept warm with a heat lamp. She survived until mid January when she stopped coming to the feeder. Everyone says that she must flown south It was bitterly sold and there had been several inches of snow.
At least I did get a chance to photograph her in her prime.
EOS 1VHS, Fujichrome Provia 100F, at ISO 100, 1/200 sec, flash as main light with BB, background at -2 Ev. 500mm f/4 IS at f/8. Scanned with a Nikon coolscan 4000. In PS cropped, levels and USM.
