Image
10D 100-400 IS @330mm 1/400 f8 -2/3EV ISO200
Handheld, 60% of full frame

Brown Pelicans are awesome to watch flying and comical to watch landing. Adults don't do it any better than this juvenile :) The image is cropped vertical from the horizontal. It is the full height of the frame. I cropped this way because I thought it gave the greatest visual impact. There is room to the right in the original image so if many of you think more room is needed I'll repost with that crop.

Excellent capture of this awkward moment. I'm like you in that I could go either way with more room on the right. I would like to see one with the additional space added for comparison.

Terrific, just the fact that you were fast enough to capture the action is good enough for me!

I really like the wing tips curled in...somoene posted that they could shoot pelicans forever and be happy...EJ, I think...anyway I concur, and this shows why!

Neil,

Nice shot. Love the pose. I think the composition is fine the way you have it cropped.

Neil, I realy like this one. The implied motion with a little bluring gives it a sense of movement. The comp and crop is strong as is.
